Business Description

The Coastguard Cultural Centre in Tramore has a rich history, originally built in 1874 as a base for the Irish Coastguard. After being used by the Coastguard service and later the Garda Síochána, the building was renovated in 2002 by the Office of Public Works. Today, the station house and cottages are used by the Tramore unit of the Irish Coast Guard, while the original boathouse is home to the Waterford County branch of Irish Water Safety. Additionally, four of the cottages have been transformed into an open plan exhibition space run by Waterford County Council, hosting local and international artists, concerts, and other cultural events. The aim of the Coastguard Cultural Centre is to promote art, culture, and heritage in the community of Tramore and its surrounding areas. The Centre also features the Coastguard Café, Gallery, and Craft Shop, offering visitors stunning views of Tramore Bay and a selection of refreshments and crafts. The venue can be hired for various events and is open Monday to Friday from 11 am to 4 pm.
