The Daniel O'Connell Memorial Church was built in 1902 as a replacement for a small chapel in Cahersiveen. Canon Brosnan led a campaign to raise funds for the church, securing support from prominent religious figures. Architect George Ashlin designed the church in early French Gothic style, using Minard Red Stone and Kerry white limestone. Pope Leo XIII granted Papal approval and donated a cornerstone for the church. Rev. Andrew Higgins, the new Bishop of Kerry, called on the Irish diaspora for aid, raising nearly £10,000. Construction began in 1886 under a contract with John Devlin. However, due to financial difficulties and the death of the contractor, work ceased in 1893. Canon Brosnan passed away in 1898, and Fr. O'Riordan took over the project. Through a successful fundraising campaign, all debts were paid, and the church was completed in 1902, although the proposed spire was not built due to insufficient funds.
