Business Description
Dublin Spire Painting Ltd is a company that specializes in painting and maintaining the iconic Spire of Dublin, also known as the Monument of Light. The Spire is a stainless steel monument standing at a height of 121.2 meters (398 ft) on O'Connell Street in Dublin, Ireland. Designed by Ian Ritchie Architects, the Spire is a symbol of elegant and dynamic simplicity that combines art and technology. Dublin Spire Painting Ltd was awarded the contract to paint and maintain the Spire, which was manufactured by Radley Engineering and erected by SIAC Construction Ltd. The construction of the Spire involved the installation of six sections, with the first section being installed on 18 December 2002 and the final section on 21 January 2003. The Spire is made up of eight hollow tubes of stainless steel and features a tuned mass damper, designed by engineers from Arup, to counteract any sway. The steel surface of the Spire was treated with shot peening to enhance its ability to reflect light. The pattern around the base of the Spire is inspired by a core sample of earth and rock formation taken from the ground where the monument stands. Dublin Spire Painting Ltd applied the pattern by bead blasting the steel through rubber stencil masks created using water jet cutting based on the core sample drawings provided by the contractor. Overall, Dublin Spire Painting Ltd plays a crucial role in maintaining the appearance and integrity of the iconic Spire of Dublin, ensuring that it continues to be a prominent symbol in the cityscape of Dublin, Ireland.
