Founded in 1862 by Louis Ernest Ladurée, the bakery quickly gained a reputation for its innovative approach to gastronomy in Paris. The concept of mixing a Parisian café and pastry shop gave birth to one of the first tea salons in the city. The iconic Ladurée Macaroon, consisting of two macaroon shells joined with a delicious ganache filling, was introduced in the middle of the 20th century by Pierre Desfontaines.
