Quirke's Medical Hall, established in 1830, is one of the oldest shops in Tullamore. P.J. Carragher Snr. took over the business in 1945 and worked as a pharmacist, doctor, and vet until 1989. The medical hall has undergone several renovations, including a major one in 1957 that included a new shop front and terrazzo floors. Paddy Carragher took over the business from his father in 1973.
