The cathedral, named after Saint Finbarr, has been a place of worship since the 7th century. The current neo-gothic cathedral was designed by architect William Burges and construction began in 1865, with the towers and spires completed in 1879. The cathedral features masonic symbolism, intricate carvings, gargoyles, mosaics, and Ireland's finest stained glass. It is a flagship architectural masterpiece and serves as the main church for Church of Ireland services.
