Business Description

The Spanish Arch in Galway city, Ireland, was originally built in 1584 as an extension of the city wall to protect the quays in the Fish Market area. It was later connected to The Long Walk, an extension of the quays created by the Eyre family. The arches were partially destroyed in 1755 by a tsunami caused by the Lisbon earthquake. The Galway City Museum was housed in part of the arch until 2006 when it was relocated to a new building. The Long Walk is a promenade beside the arches.
