    Spike Island Tours offers visitors the unique opportunity to explore the historic and mysterious Spike Island on the first ever 'Spike Island After Dark' tours. Limited to 180 tickets spread over 3 nights, visitors can experience the island's abandoned prisons, solitary cells, and follow in the footsteps of famous prisoners. Boats depart from Kennedy pier, Cobh, and after a 20-minute ferry ride, visitors can explore the island's abandoned villages and historical sites. The tour also includes a visit to the star-shaped Fortress Spike, which was once the largest prison in the world. The suggested age limit is 15 and above due to the sometimes gruesome history that is relayed. Parking options are available in Cobh town center and at Cobh cathedral. Visitors are advised to dress warmly and bring their own torches. Tickets are transferrable and must be printed and brought to the ferry embarkation point. The event starts at 6pm sharp and ends at approximately 8.10pm. Spike Island was voted Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction in 2017 and offers guided and self-guided tours, museums, exhibitions, and activities for all ages and interests. The island is home to a 24-acre star-shaped Fortress and has over 1300 years of Irish history. Spike Island Tours reopens on May 31st and advance booking is highly recommended.
