Business Description
Sixmilebridge Credit Union Limited was founded in 1969 by a committee of volunteers and has since moved premises five times. In 1994, the credit union purchased and renovated the old police barracks in the village, which still retains its original features as a listed building. While the credit union was initially run entirely by volunteers, permanent staff now handle day-to-day operations. The voluntary input remains strong today, with weekly meetings held by various committees and the commitment of the voluntary Board of Directors and Board Oversight Committee. In 1995, the common bond was extended to include the parishes of Cratloe and O'Callaghan Mills. The credit union opened a sub-office in Kilkishen in 1995 before moving to its current location on the main street in 2004. Sixmilebridge Credit Union's mission is to be a sustainable credit union that serves its members by ensuring their financial welfare, providing a confidential environment, and operating with the highest standards of personal service and care, all while adhering to prudent financial management practices and robust governance structures.
