Business Description

The Rob Roy is a historic hotel and bar located in Pearse Square, Cobh, Co. Cork. The building was constructed in 1860 and has been a prominent establishment in the area for many years. It was initially known as the Rob Roy & Commercial Inn and was operated by William Hamilton, a spirit dealer and wine & spirit merchant. Over the years, the hotel changed ownership several times, with Mrs. Garthwaite taking over as the proprietor in the late 1800s. In the early 1900s, James O'Connor and later his son Michael J. O'Connor, became the hotel proprietors. The Rob Roy Bar continues to operate and opened its doors on April 19, 2014.
