Business Description

The Irish Famine Exhibition is a concise and emotive window into a rarely discussed period of Ireland's history. Produced in 2017 to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the devastating Famine year of 1847, this exhibition presents the story of a catastrophic event that occurred between 1845 and 1852. Through a series of 50 posters and a 15-minute film, viewers are taken on a journey that combines easy-to-understand explanations with emotional storytelling. The exhibition showcases a wealth of captivating 19th-century photographs, maps, contemporary sketches, and firsthand accounts, providing a comprehensive understanding of the Famine's impact. Despite being under the rule of the British Empire, the exhibition highlights how over one million Irish people perished due to hunger and disease, while countless others were forced to flee their homeland. In addition to the visual elements, visitors have the opportunity to purchase DVDs and books related to the exhibition, and several museum artifacts are also on display.
